Set the Lighthouse Internal Clock

Lighthouse and Node system times must be in sync. Enrollment can fail if there is a significant difference between the Lighthouse and the node. It is recommended that you use an NTP server to automatically manage the date and time.

If you are using multiple instances, you can configure or update the timezone for secondary instances in the same way only via the primary instance.

To set the Lighthouse internal clock:

  1. In the Settings Pane, select > SYSTEM > Time Settings.
    The TIME SETTING page displays.

  2. Select the tab for the instance of Lighthouse for which you want to set the clock.

  3. From the System Timezone drop-down, select the timezone for the Lighthouse instance.

  4. Select whether you want to enable Network Time Protocol:

    • If you select Enabled, additional fields display. Continue to step 5.

    • If you select Disabled, continue to step 7.

  5. Under NTP Servers, click Add server.
The ADD NTP SERVER dialog displays.

Note:  It is highly recommended that you use a NTP Server to automatically manage date and time.

  6. In the dialog, complete the following:

    1. Server Address: Enter a working NTP server address.
    2. Authentication Required: Select Yes or No.
Additional fields display if this is set to Yes.
    3. Authentication Key: If Authentication Required is set to Yes, enter the authentication key to use.
    4. Key Index: If Authentication Required is set to Yes, enter a unique integer value to identify the key.
    5. Key Hash: If Authentication Required is set to Yes, enter the hashing algorithm to use.
    6. Key Format: If Authentication Required is set to Yes, select the format of the key to use from ASCII and HEX.
    7. Click Add Server.
The dialog closes, you are returned to the TIME SETTINGS page and the NTP server is added to the NTP Servers table.

  7. Click Apply.
The selected timezone and NTP settings are saved and the Current System Time is updated appropriately.

Log files for events such as startup, time source changes, errors, and warnings are saved in /var/log/messages. Additionally, logs related to tracking, measurement, and statistics are stored in /var/log/chrony/.
