Create an upgrade task
Notes: For modem firmware upgrades:
  • Before you create a task, check your modem model on the Dashboard page, Nodes page, or Node Details page.

  • OM and CM8xxx Opengear devices must be on at least version 25.11.1.
  • ACM and IM Opengear devices must be on at least version 5.3.1.

To upgrade a node use the task information table:

  1. In the Menu Pane, select Node Tools > Firmware Upgrade.
    The FIRMWARE UPGRADE page displays with the NODE UPGRADE tab selected.

  2. Click the Schedule Upgrade button then select Node Upgrade or Modem Upgrade to schedule an upgrade (or start one immediately).
    The Setup Upgrade Task part of the Firmware Upgrade Wizard displays.

  3. Under SELECT FIRMWARE, enter a name for the upgrade task.

  4. Click the Select File button.
    The SELECT FIRMWARE dialog displays.

  5. Select the firmware or upload new firmware for the upgrade task.
    When you select or upgrade firmware for a:
    • node upgrade, you select or upload the individual firmware file.
    • modem upgrade, you select or upload a bundle of firmware files. When you select the bundle, the dialog expands to display the firmware files within the bundle. Select the firmware file for the modem.

  6. Click the Select Firmware button.
    A list of available and compatible nodes displays in the SELECT NODES pane.

    Notes:  
    • Nodes that are not compatible with the selected firmware file are not listed.
    • You can use the Clear icon to remove the firmware bundle.
    • For modem upgrades only, you can use the Edit icon to update the selected carrier file.
  7. Under SELECT NODES, select the node(s) to upgrade with the firmware.

    Notes:
    • You can also use the Filter Nodes list to find the exact nodes you want to upgrade.
    • Compatible nodes that are already scheduled for an upgrade cannot be selected, these are visible in the list but appear greyed-out.
  8. Click Next - Schedule Upgrade button.
    The Schedule Upgrade part of the Firmware Upgrade Wizard displays the Start Time pane and the nodes scheduled for upgrade.

  9. Select the Start time as either:

    • Immediately after creation for immediate start.

    • Set time, use the date picker to enter the scheduled date and time.

    Note: The scheduled time is always in UTC.

  10. In the NODES pane, use the Allow/Disallow toggle to choose whether nodes can upgrade in failover mode or not.

  11. Click Next – Review and Confirm.
    The Review and Confirm part of the Firmware Upgrade Wizard displays.

  12. Check the schedule details are correct.

    Note: To change schedule details, click Back – Schedule Upgrade, all local data is preserved while you change parameters on previous screens.

  13. Click Next - Confirm.

  14. When the dialog displays, type Yes, then click Confirm to create the task.
    If successful, a message displays that the task is created.
